A Tomatin from my year of birth? Well, I must try this, surly. It came from a single cask, number 12267, bottled at cask strength with a nice dark colour. It was bottled in August 2007.

Lift off! A fruit bomb on the nose from the very start. Great mix of dried and juicy fruit, very tropical. Mango, papaya, kiwi, pineapple, banana, but also orchard fruit. Soft spices with hardly any oak to speak of, which is quite surprising after almost four decades. Outstanding!

Creamy, almost fatty, and round. Very fruity again. Powerful too. Well seasoned. It does show some oak now, but in a greatly supporting way, definitely not dominant. While mildly drying, it does remain juicy enough to make your mouth water. This is pure enjoyment! I refuse to add water (sorry, I just cannot bring myself to dilute it).

The finish, which remains utterly fruity and tropical, should have been a little longer in my book.

The T of Tomatin is for Top! A bottle like it was recently sold for 320 EUR at McTears and at the time of writing Hedonism Wines in England still had a bottle on offer for (drumroll) 600 EUR. Thank the Maker for this big sample from my buddy Chris.
