Belgian bottler Klubb23 was able to get its hands on a special cask of Tomintoul. Monbazillac, ladies and gentlemen. A noble sweet white wine from the south of France, below Bergerac, east of Bordeaux and in the Dordogne valley. This Tomintoul – for the occasion adorned with the label 'The Phantom'– was allowed to mature for15 years. Sweet and sour nose on mandarins, blueberries, quince jam and vanilla. Cadbury chocolate with pieces of Turkish Delight. Schnapps like I who often sip after skiing without really knowing what they were distilled with. Can really be anything. Just the same here. Special and very pleasant. Firm body and immediately sweet and spicy. Just say piquant. Quite a few wood shavings and chili. But the fruit doesn't get blocked, though. The mandarins become oranges, the chocolate becomes dark and bitter. With every sip I appreciate this Tomintoul more and more. The finish is a mixture of mandarins, hazelnuts and cherry liqueur. My 25th Tomintoul and it was a very good one. Bold cask selection cask. Thx, Dominic.
