This Tomintoul was bottled in the famous Celebration of the Cask series. I got the sample pressed into my hands by my Dutch buddy Manny, thanks for that! The angels have been fairly greedy to say the least, because after 23 years this malt is only 49.7%. Let's get started! Delicate nose on citrus fruit with a lot of floral notes and even something of yogurt with pieces of pineapple. Lime sorbet. Slightly oily on the palate. The fruit of the nose returns, supplemented with Granny Smith apples and some peach. Pineapple juice. Honey. But relatively spicy on ginger and white pepper. Beautiful. Balanced. Floral notes return. Lemongrass and hay. But it remains a delicate whisky. The finish is surprisingly long on peach and apples with a touch of wood spices on the deathbed. Nice middle of the road this Speysider. Thx, Manny!
