Generally I'm not a big fan of the lighter malt style but this has something very different and intriguing about it.

The strongest initial aroma is that of cereal and even wheat. Then freshly cut grass and hay, followed by a sweet nuttiness to it. It's different to any of the traditional 'light' malts I've previously tried. With a bit of time the sweetness becomes stronger on the nose but the grass, cereal and hay remains strong.

On the palate, the sweet nuttiness seems to come through the most but overall it continues to be the same as the nose. There's a hint of something else too, kind of tangy fruit but not citrus. Gooseberries spring to mind for some reason?

Quite a long finish too for such a light malt and slightly bitter.

I have never tried any Tullibardine before this one but it has caught my interest. It's far from the greatest malt I've ever tried and from experience Connoisseur's Choice can be a bit hit and miss. Therefore this is difficult to score. But, I'd certainly be interested in trying some more from this distillery.
