It was way back in 2013 that I last tasted the Tullibardine 20. One of the exhibitors at the MEUG Rooftop Festival had a recent bottling with him and I thought it would be a good idea to revisit this malt, which matured for two decades in only first fill ex-bourbon barrels. Deliciously fruity, sweet nose on banana, pineapple, oatmeal, vanilla and honey. Hint of cocoa butter and cotton candy. Mirabelles. Soft and accessible and easy to overlook, it seems to me. But really worth it if you take your time for it. Soft on the palate, almost devoid of spices. Sweet with a heart of malt sugars and vanilla followed by notes of pineapple and banana. Pepper and ginger come around the corner, while some orange peel brightens things up. No, this one isn't exactly complex, but I really like it. Medium, soft spicy finish on sweet fruit. Slowly extinguishes. This Tulli does not jump out at any time, barely stands out and is still tasty. Completely unpretentious.
