Intriguing topic @alanthebairn, unfortunately the link is now broken.
While Googling around I discovered that The Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, has 'his own whisky' which is sold exclusively via The House of Commons gift shop.
By the looks of this request for information in 2014 it sells quite a few bottles...

So this is what they're supposed to stock for UK government functions? Funny.
Malt whisky is indeed poorly represented in comparison to the other stuff here, but I'd still be pretty stoked to show up at a government shindig and get offered some Caol Ila 18!

Interesting to see the relatively poor whisky representation on the UK Government hospitality list (go to the very bottom of the list!!).... It looks as if you are a whisky lover stay away from UK Government receptions. I hope Bute House has a better choice than Downing St
