Yes I can't believe how expensive the Jack Daniel's rye is! Crazy, and you'll never catch me shelling out my money for that. I think these are pretty "gimicky" if you ask me; I think the audience is the people who pay $50 for vodka in a skull bottle... not us. Ever had unaged bourbon? It's nothing to sit around with in your Glencairn. Some are worth a taste, but I can't imagine why you'd ever want a full bottle of any unaged whisk(e)y.

I tried the Tennessee rye from daniels. I gave it a 75 being generous. I smelled corn and tasted corn. Not for the whisky lover or connosr.

Nas-T. Not a fan. I attended a superb Buffalo Trace tasting last year. We started with their base white dog and a few variations, moved into their standard releases, and ended with the Antique Collection. Nice to explore the progression, but I'll just wait for the finished expressions, thank you. I don't know which was worse, the smell or the taste.

Here in NC, moonshine is so cheap and plentiful I see no need to even try the corporate stuff. To me whisky in the white is nothing special. We get some quality shine here, but to me it's flavorless. Most people just add various fruits and a bit of sugar. Lemon was great surprisingly enough. It always interesting to see what flavor comes to the party next.

I've had the Buffalo Trace white dog. Unaged spirits really aren't my thing but I will say it is a very nice new make spirit. I have a review planned on my blog soon. Unfortunately the JD Rye is a bit of a joke at $50 so I have not tried that one. Jacob's Ghost is interesting in that it isn't necessarily 'unaged' it's aged for a up to a year, note the off white color it has. But again nothing is really drawing me towards picking up a bottle

@Eli I've had the JD Rye as I was given a bottle as a gift. I also wrote a review here, its quite one-dimensional for obvious reasons but I do want to acquire an aged version as the written notes on the bottle seem to suggest there will be one later. Not worth $50 or $44 as it is around here

Some big brand unaged spirit producers are bringing unaged or very young (-1yr) on the market. Jack has the expensive (!) unaged rye, Jim Beam has the Ghost, Buffalo Trace the White Dog and there are many more. Did anyone taste some of them in a side by side comparison yet? Your thoughts about them are more than welcome:)
