@goldfilm - If I ordered a Bunny 12 and received a Laddie '92, that waitress would get a VERY big tip.
Can't say with certainty what you got, but Bunnahabhain 12 tastes nothing like HP 12 to me. Bunny has more peat and sour notes.

@WhiskyBee the funny thing is that she messed it up so many times (w/food, etc) that she didn't charge the whisky! How does Laddie '92 taste like? Is it peaty? Because I read it's very fruity, and just for the nose the thing I got was peaty — not a Laphroaig but peatier than a Speyside...

@goldfilm - I confess I've never tried it, ahem. Bunnahabhain 12 is just okay with me, no more (and I know many disagree!). I'd bet serious money that a vintage Laddie would be much more to my liking, so that's where I was coming from. Didn't mean to imply any expertise in the matter! ;-)

Out of those two, definitely the Bruichladdich would be more like the HP 12. I'm inclined to say you got what was written on the bill, as per her own admission. I'd say you got a good deal there!

@systemdown Yes, I think I'll agree it was a Laddie, but I'm kind of confused about some reviews I've read, saying the Laddie '92 is very fruity. When I hear of fruity I think of Glenmorangie, Balvenie, Cragganmore, and not HP or Laddie '92, but probably i'm not taking into consideration that some wood or spices take the fruitiness to a different level... I'm learning!

An interesting conundrum. A '92 Bruichladdich could have been a number of releases, but it would have been unpeated, light and fruity so should have been quite different to a HP, but possibly more similar to a Bunna... any more details or memories of it?!

I was at a Scottish Bar in NYC and the waitress was all around. I ordered a Bunnahabhain 12 and she forgot a couple of times. Then she brought it — I never tasted it.
It smelled and tasted very, very similar to a Highland Park 12, but not exactly.
When she brought the check it said "Bruichladdich 1992". I asked her: "is there a mistake in the check or you brought a Bruichladdich instead?". She confessed she brought a Bruichladdich. But she was new to the bar and new to single malts....
My question to you, dear conners: did she actually bring a Bunna, a Bruich, or something else that sounded similar or was supposed to go to another table?
