I'm going to just say it up front: I like Waterford, but I'm not a devotee. What I tasted so far was interesting, fun, but not really earth-shattering. Experienced not a single OMG moment with these blue bottles. I love the story, but the malt hasn't really been able to blow my socks off so far. Maybe it will work with this Pique-Nique Micro Cuvée, which was released with a lot of noise.

Great creamy nose on vanilla, hay, farmer's butter and green strawberries. Oats too. Something sour that I can't immediately put my finger on. Not much more, I have to say. No, this doesn't exactly make me happy.

The body is not too bad. Nice and oily. Let’s say creamy. Farmer's butter returns, supplemented with strawberries and honey, but also something that reminds me of yogurt. Again an acid note that I think reminds me of grapefruit, but not quite. I can't really put my finger on it. Buttermilk, that's the direction we're going. And no, I don't think it's great.

The finish is the best part: feisty, spicy, sweet and sour and long.

For those wondering what the hell the title '1623' means: that's the date Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing' appeared. Is that clear or do I have to make you a drawing? Thank you, Benny.
