There are a lot to choose from, but lately I've really enjoyed my Highland Park 12 Year Old, one of the more enjoyable ones that I've had.

@Sam83, there are soooo many different whiskies, and everyone likes something different, depending on their preferences and mood. But then there are some that a lot of people like, such as Glenmorangie, Talisker, Highland Park, Macallan, Glenlivet and Glenfiddich (and lots more). If you are at the point at which you have a feeling for what tastes and characteristics you like, I'm sure you will get a lot of recommendations here. Otherwise read reviews from here, www.ScotchChix.com, www.WhiskyNotes.be, and many more.

@AboutChoice - thanks for your advice, I'll let you know how I get on!

I'm a bit of a whisky novice you see, and it's only of recent that I've started to try different blends - mainly due to my dad's love for whisky. He recently introduced me to one of his favourites - the Grant's Family Reserve whisky: bit.ly/9pjUol

Have you tried it?

I'm going to pick up a new bottle tomorrow, but can't decide between The Auchentoshan 12 Yr. and The Dalmore 12 Yr. Any suggestions?? I'm a newbie to the single malt world, but am really enjoying it so far. My favourite dram thus far has been The Balvenie Doublewood.

@Jay I'd go for the Dalmore. . .I am a big fan. Just had a SMWS Dalmore that was tremendous!

@rhavers I'm leaning that way as someone else also told me that if I liked the Doublewood, I'd also enjoy The Dalmore 12 Yr.

@Jay True, the Dalmore is a nice entry whisky but also good for seasoned malt enthusiasts who enjoy softer easy drinking whiskies.

Well, I decided to go with The Dalmore.... Just poured myself a dram. It's quite smooth and sweet, tastes very creamy and buttery. I'm happy with my decision, although it just means I'll have to wait until next payday to try the Auchentoshan out!!!
