What are your non-Scotch Single Malt winners?

Amrut is one of my all time favorite distilleries with consistently brilliant expressions. Amrut Two Continents and Amrut Portonova really stand out as winners!

From the Japanese I love the Hakushu 12 and the Yoichi 15 & 20

And recently I discovered the Kavalan Solist Fino - a single malt from Taiwan finished in Fino Sherry Casks. What an absolute corker!

So which non-Scotch Single Malt makes you weak at the knees?

@CanadianNinja

The two best whiskies I've ever had, Japanese or otherwise, Yamazaki 1984 and Yamazaki 25 yo. The best. Other great whiskies have been Yamazaki 18, Yoichi 15, and Bushmills 21 Madeira.

I will concur with CanadiannNinja about the Yamazaki 25 and 1984, two top whiskies. I would also recommend anyone to work their way through Miyagikyo range, a distillery often overlooked in favor of Yoichi, but one of my favorites all the same.

Completely agree with @CaptinTom's comment about Miyagikyou.

Amrut Single Malt, Nikka Taketsuru 12...as much as I'd like to try Two Continents or Portonova, they're not available near me...

My experience list is fairly short, but would include: Glen Breton 10 (Canadian), McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt (US), Sullivan's Cove Double Cask (Australia), Yamazaki 18 and Yoichi 10 (Japan). From this list, Yamazaki 18 would win handily, with an honourable mention to McCarthy's. The Sullivan's Cove was just opened within the last two weeks, so the jury is still out.

Would Old Potrero 18th Century and Lot 40 (Canadian) qualify as they are 100% rye (single grain therefore) whiskies?

Hibiki 12 years old is really good, especially for its price.

In the more expensive range, Ichiro's Malt Three of heart.

Oops, sorry, just read you asked for single malt. Hibiki 12 is a blend (but really really good nonetheless !)

I have to go with Yamazaki 18. But Amrut Peated or not is a close winner too since they are way younger and afordable.

Kavalan Soloist Sherry. It's just beautiful stuff. Just a few years old as well!

From Taiwan Kavalan Soloist Sherry, Vinho and Bourbon have all recently blown me away and really made me not regret my determination to put my hands on bottles from that distillery.

Australia: A couple of the Limeburners have blown me away: M31 and M66 have been a few of my favorite expressions, sadly however when it's a release of just a couple hundred bottles I'm not sure if it counts to list them. I've just picked up a independent bottling: Heartwood's Convict Unchained which has me panting in anticipation and a rare cask strength Lark which also has me panting until I crack the bottle open!
