Independent bottlings can be very limited, especially if they're from a single cask. Maybe 300 - 350 bottles was the total output for this release. Hence, you probably won't find much information on it, even on the bottler's website.
IBs can be a risk. But I'd say a 28 yo Caol Ila sounds like a risk worth taking. How's it taste?

No luck on a picture, but check this out to see if there's anything that helps:

@WhiskyBee I thought I might finish off a couple more bottles in my cabinet before I opened it up. I got a little overzealous with the new stuff, and now I have far too many opened bottles. I can say, by the way, that this run was limited to 600 bottles. They also list the cask it all came from. I must admit that doesn't mean much to me, though.

I saw a listing on the local government liquor store website for a 28 year old Caol Ila, a distillery that I've enjoyed in the past and other people seem to like as well. The price was a lot lower than comparably aged Islay malts, so I decided to make the trek and drive about 40 minutes to the store to pick it up. I felt a little excited -- I'd never gone so far out of my way for a bottle before, and it felt like something of a rite of passage. Anyway, when I got there, I found it was actually an independent bottling. I bought it, took it home, and now that I'm looking around online for some details, I find that this particular bottling seems all but unknown. I have to admit, I find the mystery rather tantalizing... But curiosity got the better of me, so I'm putting it to the experts here. I can say it's from a range called Cooper's Choice, and it's bottled by an outfit called Vintage Malt Whisky (there's no listing of this bottle on their website, by the way). Any thoughts?
