I honestly have not really detected this before.
Would there be a particular distillery that produces whisky of such a character on a regular basis?

I certainly know what you mean with the ardbeg 10. My 2014 uigeadail also has this characteristic. It's also very noticeable in the Ileach cask strength, although I do find that a little young and rough, but I think that minerally, flinty character can go along with quite young peaty whiskies a bit.

@Sengjc The obvious answer to your question is, in my own opinion, Ardbeg. In fact, sometime I find that some of the Sherry finish are just a waste of this nice minerality. I assumed, maybe wrongly, that it comes from the water. And sometime, I think some salty notes are coming from the water as well. I find that Amrut has a salty malt even on unpeated bottle and I assume it comes from the water and the grain. Of course for the flinstone, it's minerality and smoke.
I had a Craighellachie once, all in finesse, with minerality like a white wine. But I do have to go back to Ardbeg 10 again, I think it was 2010 or 2011 batch, it was like a great Chablis, a Wonder!
I have to stop now. I am becoming romantic...

@Robert99
Thanks - I am have an opened bottle of Ardbeg Ten at the moment - I am not sure what the batch code is but I think it is 2014 since it comes as part of the 'Escape Pack'. I'll have a shot at it and lookout for this minerality.

For me it doesn't get much more mineral-y than Talisker. The stuff tastes like rocks and limestone to me.

@Hunggar I encountered Talisker at the beginning of my journey inthe world of Whisky. At the time I was not impressed by it. But I think it is time that I give it a second chance. If I found in it a nice minerality I will be more than please, if not... I will mesure how Small or great is the way I travaled during that journey. In bot case, it will be educating.

I love when I get pebbles or flinstone in my whisky. So I would like to find more whiskies with good mineral notes. The 2011 batch of Ardbeg 10 was fantastic for that and so was the 2012 (I think) of the Bowmore Laimrig. And for you? Do you have a good one that you cherrish?
