@Nozinan Being new to the site, I cannot comment on the negative history but would highly recommend the Double Barrel Select as an excellent purchase for both its pricepoint and standalone taste

I've always liked 40 Creek. I agree with JayRain, The Double Barrel Select if excellent. One thing I've notice about 40 Creek, especially The Double Barrel and The Copper Pot Still is that they are very sweet and almost syrupy. Even though I enjoy them, I drink them in small quantities. Maybe some people find that to be undesirable. For anyone who lacks appreciation for Forty Creek, I would recommend trying The Confederation Oak if you haven't already. In my opinion, it is the most natural tasting Forty Creek of the lot. It's not too heavy and the oak comes through quite a lot. The interesting thing about this particular whisky are the barrels that it's aged in. Supposedly they were made from trees that must have sprouted just before Confederation in 1867 about 150 years ago. That's some pretty mature wood! I'd love to hear what others think of The Confederation Oak Forty Creek.

@ewhiskey, that's very interesting, what you wrote about the Confederation Oak! I had never heard that. I have yet to try anything from Forty Creek, it's not available here in Japan. : ( My father is going to try to send me some bottles. Unfortunately though, due to Canadian liquor/shipping laws, it won't be easy!

@Nozinan I didn't know there were thumbs down on Forty Creek I really like it. It is my humble opinion only that it is a great dram and I when ever possible sing it's praises to all who ask. Though it is Canadian A I have tried multiple bottles over the short life of this distillery and found good consistency every time. :)

It's one of the most consistent things about CONNOSR. When someone brings up FORTY CREEK, the thumbs down always appear.
Is it the shape of the bottle? The subtle flavours? The fact that it's Canadian?
What's with the negativity?
