@whiskyshiba I finished not so long ago the HP18, which is my favorite. I have the Glenlivet 18, which is very nice, but not as complex as the HP. I tasted the Caol Ila 18 also and the Yamazaki 18. The latter is very very good. I have the Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beast, which is a vintage of 1990 and mine has been bottled in 2008, which makes it a 18 years old. I don't know if I can include it in the list but it would be my second favorite. The Laphroaig 18 would be my third favorite.

@Kutter, @Andrea, I forgot that Ardbeg ANB is an 18yr old. Also, add the Sazerac18 as well.
I'm not too familiar with the Independent Distilleries. Does anyone know of any great 18yr olds from them?

So far, Glenlivet 18. However, I have a few others in reserve I have yet to try, so I expect that to change sometime soon.

The laphroig 18 for me as well, I was saddened by the loss of the 15 but this is a more than acceptable replacement, (There is an OMC 18 y/o that is worth picking up if ever you see it)

@Andrew having to pick up one of the two what would be your advice? 15 or 18?

@lucadanna1985 - I would love to find a bottle or two of the 15 around I would buy it in a second, it has been discontinued and unless there is a big change at the distillery it wont be coming back. I must admit that I prefer the 18 though i think it's smoother, has a bigger mouth feel and longer finish.

Highland Park18, Macallan 18 off the top of my head. If i dug through the back of the closet I'm sure i'd find something else to add to the list. We have a 4 year old, so try to keep booze out of sight and toddler's hands! It will be a bit like Christmas when we can pull out the dusty old bottles. Ha Ha.

Haven't had many so far, but my favorite has to be the Talisker 18. I'll come back in a few months/years :P.

Highland Park 18, Macallan 18, Elijah Craig 18, Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist, and most 18 yo Willett bourbons and ryes.

I have several that I really liked: BenRiach 18 Year Old Moscatel, BenRiach 18 Year Old Gaja Barolo, Glen Garioch 18 Year Old 1978, Greenore 18 Year Old, SMWS 25.54 Dressed to Impress (Rosebank 18 Year Old), but my absolute favourite would have to be the Springbank 18 Year Old. I left out the Auchentoshan 18 Year Old, because - while I do like it - I am biased on that score :)

@markjedi1 I still have to get familiar with the Springbank range (although I've already sampled the 10 yo a few times), but I've heard and read fantastic things about the 18 yo. Can't wait to try it!

The current fave is Laphroaig 18. I may like the Ardbeg 1990 Airigh Nam Beist (last bottling) better, but it's being saved for quite awhile before being opened (as it's discontinued).

Macallan 18 is tough to best. Laphroaig and Talisker 18s are both pretty delicious too.

HP 18 has been my favorite since the start of my whisky hobby. 18 years seems to be a good age for any whisky though. Aberlour 18 is also very nice, Talisker 18 even more so.

I've only tried two so far...Highland Park 18 and Jefferson's Presidential Select 18 Bourbon...apples and oranges comparison, I know, but the HP is an excellent all around whisky, while the JPS presents a very nice cherry profile where the type of cherry noted seems to change from nose to palate to finish. My next wishlist 18 yo to get will likely be the ANB or the Auchentoshan 18, though both are a ways down the road...

Clearly HP18. But I wouldn't refuse The Macallan Sherry Cask as well (btw also the 18 y Fine Oak is an excellent scotch).

Not too young, not too old (and expensive), but just right.
There are so many 18YR old whiskies and bourbons too. Which ones do you like?
My favorites are the Macallan18, Talisker18, Oban18, HP18, and Caol Ila18.
