By "anonymous," I mean a whisky distiller whose identity the bottler does not divulge. A couple of mine include the following Ileach Cask Strength and Blackadder Peat Reek.

Willett Family Estate Barrel # 79, "Sopressata" Bourbon, Johnny Drum Bourbon (especially Private Stock), Pure Kentucky XO Bourbon...these include much of what Kentucky Bourbon Distillers (KBD--the Willett people) has been sourcing since the 1980s. And Jefferson's Reserve Bourbon.

For bourbon sourcing in recent times, the likely "sources" have been:

1) Heaven Hill

2) MGPI/LDI = Midwest Grain Products Ingredients, formerly Lawrenceburg Distillers, Indiana

3) Barton/Tom Moore/1792 Ridgemont Distillery (yes, these distillery names shift about quite a lot.)

4) Thomas Medley Distillery

Most unidentified bourbons and US ryes came from one of these distilleries, I believe.

@Victor I love what MPGI/LDI formally Seagrams is putting out, especially the Ryes. They must have been sitting on barrels for some time.

Masterson's 10 YO Straight Rye and Jefferson's Reserve Very Old. These are both excellent whiskies. Some claim to know where they were distilled; I say prove it!

@paddockjudge I have yet to crack open my Jefferson's Reserve Very Old, but I am looking forward to it. I think their entire range is top shelf.

@newreverie , with help from @Nozinan, I managed to bunker a handful of Jefferson's Reserve VO Batch No.197. I would have purchased more if possible.

@paddockjudge I would have gotten you more if you'd asked for more...

@Nozinan, Thank you for your continued support of my cabinet. Being in that same situation today, I would ask that you pick up as many as you can carry. I have since expanded my cabinet storage space by 300%. The Commander in Chief has not interfered with my Strategic Stockpile nor my Supply Chain Policy, in fact, she has supported the current Inventory Control Program and encourages me to engage in the acquisition and sustainable development of these liquid assets. The consumption of critical items with family and friends has the full support of the current administration....so yes, I should have asked for a few more. What was I thinking?!

I am sure you'll find new items to permit my cooperation in building the strategic stockpile.

I think it falls into this category ... So I'll say " probably speysides finest" which is reported to be a well known distillery beginning with the letter G..
