What's your favorite No Age Statement whisky (or whiskey)? Mine is Uigeadail by Ardbeg. It brings tears to my eyes while it's lovingly ripping out my throat. Just marvelous.

Corryvreckan. Oogie's good too, but I prefer power to beauty.

Knowing the tastes on this board, you should set up a live vote counter for "a'bunadh!" responses.

Hah, I'm not sure which one I prefer the most, it's down to Corryvreckan and Uigeadail. Corryvreckan might pull ahead, as it was the one I had first.

Ardbeg - everyone else: 3 - 0

Perhaps my bottle of A'bunadh will turn me once I open it?

I haven't sampled all of them yet... But I'd say probably uigeadail or perhaps glendronach CS

Uigeadail and Corryvreckan are really excellent. I personally much prefer Corryvreckan to the Lagavulin 12 CS for example... At Laphroaig, Quarter Cask and PX Cask are very successful whiskies. Glendronach CS is delicious and Talisker Dark Storm surprisingly good (far superior above the poor Skye and Storm). What I like in whisky is diversity ;-) All that to say that NAS can be excellent...

Nikka from the barrel, Amrut fusion, Laphroaig QC and TW and Big Peat all do it for me.

Another vote for Ardbeg (big surprise).

For a number of years it was Uigeadail. But, recently the Corry has over taken it for my top spot.

Amrut Intermediate Sherry is right up there.

To pick three NAS: Ardbeg Supernova, Uigeadail in general, but especially L 10 151 or L 11 028 Uigeadail, and Amrut Intermediate Sherry.

Add three more? Glendronach Cask Strength, Talisker 57 Degrees North (fully blossomed), and A'bunadh in general, but especially Batch # 32 or 26 A'bunadh.

Numbers Seven to Nine? Kavalan Solist Sherry, any first rate NAS Nikka (including the Coffey Grain), and one of the best batches of Corryvreckan. (2 of my 3 Corryvreckan batches rate as the 'worst batches' evaluated by @Nock, whose taste I greatly respect. I can't always be lucky. I've done pretty well in other things.)

Maybe my top NAS is Amrut Peated CS, followed closely by Amrut Cask strength and some of the better Aberloour A'Bunadhs (I liked batch 33 and 44 a lot).

And I shouldn't leave out Caol Ila CS

@Victor, you always seem to be the one reminding me about Ardbeg Supernova! I guess, I always think in terms of "favorite available _______ whisky."

Yes, Supernova is hands down my favorite. Any of them. Far and above anything else.

I have finally picked up samples of Glendronach Cask Strength and Kalavan Solist Sherry which I have yet to taste.

NAS usually makes you think malts, but, there are some Western Hemisphere NAS whiskies nowadays too.

Three of my top favourite NAS releases from North America are Jefferson's Reserve Bourbon, Wiser's Legacy, and Wiser's Red Letter.

Come to think of it...Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye, George T. Stagg Bourbon, and William Larue Weller Bourbon don't have any age statements on their bottles either. Yeah, there is some information about them on the box inserts, but...no age statements on the bottles.

At this point, I have a bunker stash of older Uigeadails that I draw from. I drank one 2007 recently that blew me away. So good I nearly shed a tear. The Uigies bottled very recently don't grab me much at all.

@Cunundrum I would be very curious to hear what batches of Uigeadail you have stashed away. I am currently sitting on unopened bottles of the following batches. I am saving up for an ultimate “Uigeadail-through-the-ages” tasting. Who knows, it might make for a great Connosr gathering and tasting experience.

Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% L4 272 03:41 4ML (September 28th 2004)

Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% L5 237 18:32 4ML (August 25th 2005)

Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% L9 097 14:10 4ML (April 7th 2009)

Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% L11 028 08:37 6ML (January 28th 2011)

Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% L13 245 15:20 6ML (September 2nd 2013)

Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% L13 322 08:12 6ML (November 28th 2013)

Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% L14 141 16:46 6ML (May 21st 2014)

What is amazing is how the sherry influence changes from batch to batch. Just take the two from L13. The 322 has so much sherry while the 245 has so little. I would love to get my hands on more bottles of:

Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% L7 325 (November 21st 2007)

Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% L10 151 (May 31st 2010)

Ardbeg Uigeadail 54.2% L11 147 (May 27th 2011)

Those were fantastic batches especially as counterpoints to some of the bottles I do have.

@Victor, dang it . . . you are correct again. Thomas H. Handy, George T. Stagg, and William Larue Weller are all NAS on the bottle I guess they have to be counted ;-)

The next step is to get to the specific batches and years of the Corry, Uigeadail, Intermediate Sherry, Supernova, Stagg, Handy, Weller . . . etc. That could produce an exorbitant amount of specificity!

@Nock I can look for the codes next time I am down in the cellar. My Uigeadail stash is not as extensive as yours: three single digits. Well done. Those are worth their weight in gold these days.

The best NAS I´ve had is Port Ellen PE5, from the excellent Element of Islay series. I also quite enjoyed BN6 (Bunnahabhain) from the same series, and I find the LG2 (Lagavulin) to be quite close to my 2014 12Y cask srength, so obviously also a VERY enjoyable malt. All of the above a of pretty linited supply. My favorite "ordinary" NAS is Talisker 57 North.

@adramgooddrink

@Cunundrum Uigeadail all the way! Whenever I get cynical about NAS whiskies (which seems to be happening a lot lately), this one reminds me that they can be delicious, well-crafted, and reasonably priced.

I think it's easy to find a favourite NAS whisk(e)y. There are some real cask strength & New World beauties in this category.

What's my favourite NAS Scottish malt ABV 40-46%? I enjoy some, yet I'm drawing a blank right now. Nothing memorable.

For me I'd have to say either the aberlour abunadh or glenlivet nadurra, both great NAS bottles.
