Has anyone been to previous London Whisky Live events? Are they worth checking out and are there any Connosr members visiting this year. This years it's being held on Fiday 23rd and Saturday 24th. I was thinking of going on the Saturday.

I've been to the last 4 Whisky Live London events and really enjoyed them, maybe more so as they went on because my interest in whisky has grown over that time. They are a great experience, with a wide range of drinkers there, from the complete novice, the informed amateur and to the complete expert.

Last year the venue seemed slightly small for what was required in my eyes, but even so i still enjoyed it. Myself and a few of my friends who also go will be going for the full day experience on the Saturday. I reccomend it with friends, but even alone it is a good day of dramming!

I myself am looking forward to this year's event in Sydney. It will be my first time to attend.

I'd definitely recommend going - small though it may seem in the current venue they pack in quite a lot. Keep an eye on the masterclasses as they sell out quickly and are generally pretty good.

I'll be along at some time, no idea which day yet.

A couple of us from Whisky Squad went along last year and had a great night - I hadn't been in a few years, but the venue they're in now is lovely. Didn't seem that small - there was so much lovely whisky to cover that the journey from one end to the other seemed to take ages...

I'm planning to go on the Friday night, and definitely keep an eye on those masterclasses, because they're great fun & full of great whisky. Last year a couple of us went to the Talisker session with Colin Dunn, and it was - as usual - an unforgettable experience.

Connosr had a stand last year and we ran a little video event which you can see the results of over here connosr.com/whiskypod/events/…

In 2012 we'll be attending purely for pleasure so it would be good to catch up with a few of you guys.

So, who else is going to Whisky Live, and who's around to say hello to on the Friday night?

I suspect I'll be around the entire time as TWE are the official retailer. When I say around I'm currently thinking that will mean 'standing behind a counter selling whisky'. They might let me roam if I'm lucky...

If anyone's there please come and say hello. It'll stop me staring longingly at the other stands :)

Really enjoyed Whisky Live this past weekend, again i found it quite small and cramped in the venue, but that didnt really detract from my enjoyment of the day. Tried some superb whiskies, and spent a bit of money on 3 bottles! I ended up buying the Glen Moray 10yr Chardonnay Cask, the Glenfiddich Solera, and the Scapa 16yr. Anyone else make a note-worthy purchase on the day?

I picked up a bottle of the Whisky Magazine 10yo Imperial - originally bottled for a Whisky Live back in 2009 - a beautiful light and floral dram.

Glen Moray was the surprise hit of the show for me. I've tried the Chardonnay cask before (and again recently when I visited the distillery - the folks on the stand were the same who looked after me when I was there) but their upcoming Chenin Blanc matured (not just finished) was also quite tasty.

Lovely event, filled with lovely people. We had a few of the Whisky Squad along on the Friday, and from what I gather everyone got to taste some lovely new drams that they hadn't seen before - the newer folk got good explanations of things from exhibitors, and those who already had a bit more background knowledge were generally able to find out more technical info as well.

Didn't end up buying anything, but that's because when I so much as LOOKED in the direction of the Imperial, @cowfish spear-tackled me and shouted "You don't need to buy any more whisky!" (as instructed - he's sort of like my whisky Kato).

Good time had by all!

Thanks for your help in answering my original question. My daughter and I had an absolute blast at the show. Tasted twenty one new experiences for me and met some great people there too, including our very own Gal. I have updated my blog with a visit report, and now trying to decipher my notes taken during the show and upload these 21 new drams to my voyage. whisky-discovery.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/…
