After seeing the threads for the London and Paris places, I thought I'd chip in with a hint for those who find themselves in Amsterdam with a review of the Whisky L&B.
The bar most currently boasts around 1400 bottles of whisky. It offers Scotch, Irish, Bourbon, of course, but also Canadian, Japanese and a few types of rum. The prices I recall range from 3 to 12 € per glass.
The service was very friendly and accomodating, especially to the usual non-whisky drinkers in our party. They got two nosing glasses to try and take their pick, also water after we started actually drinking.
Another interesting possibility is to order a whisky menu, consisting of three different drams. These could be themed Glenfiddich (12, 15, 18), Irish, Bourbon, Islay, Japanese, Closed distilleries (hi there, Port Ellen) or "25 years or older". On the whole, the bar had a very friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.
What criticism I have is partly due to the logistics. The bar is close to the Leidseplein, a tourist hotspot, and its sidestreet look rather unsavoury. Also, this being the Netherlands, there is not a lot of space in the actual bar. Finally, some of the bourbons offered with one menu were out, though we got equivalent replacements.
All in all, I'd give this bar solid 90 points - even just spending an hour there is very relaxing and enjoyable.
