Early 2012 I told you about Whiskyblender.com (connosr.com/reviews/whiskyblender/…), the website that allows you to create your very own blend from casks that got the following descriptions: Burnt Puddin’, Soft & Fruity, Touch of Spice and the likes. And while my first blend, aptly named 1st Xperiment, was not really a winner, I considered my recipe for this blend a little more carefully.
The nose is fruity on primarily brown, overripe banana and green grapes. Some almond oil gives it a darker side. Quite a lot of blueberries as well. Oranges and melon form the heart of this blend, at I am happy for it as fruitiness was the goal. But I cannot ignore the impression of pilsner. No spices to speak off.
On the palate, it gets more appetizing. Ginger, nutmeg, pepper. Nice. The fruit is upholstered with vanilla and a bit of caramel. It lacks some body, but it does not detract from the experience too much.
The finish is sweet and spicy, but rather short.
This second experiment is quite an improvement. A typical cardplayer’s whisky that is very quaffable, serving the purpose for which is was designed.
Hi Mark
Interesting stuff. It would be great, if you can write the ingredients and their proportions in the reviews, so one can maybe make the same or have an idea for his own creating process.
