I'll be attending WhiskyFest New York for the first time! It's Oct 26-27 - though I'll be missing the 26th Grand Tasting. But I'm attending the seminars, and the Grand Tasting, on the 27th. So I'm curious as to who here as been, if they enjoyed it, and if they are going this year as well!

My brother is going and I think he has one or two tickets available (I can't go and he bought me a ticket)@talexander I went to Chicago last march and it was very interesting and way better than Whisky Live Toronto. Food was very good and the selection of whiskies was incredible. It was worth the money. Which seminars?

I''ll be there for the Friday night tasting and the Saturday seminars. Love to put faces to names so if you see a old fat guy with a scruffy grey goatee (think Rob Ryan of Dallas Cowboys with slightly shorter hair) it will likely be me...say hi.

What an incredible time I had! The seminars were very interesting and entertaining - and some absolutely dream drams were poured (favourites of mine were Glenmorangie 1963, Gold Bowmore 1964, Powers John's Lane, Glenmorangie 30 Year Old Malaga Wood, and too many to mention) - with great speakers like Johnny McCormick, Bill Lumsden, Richard Paterson and many others. Then the Grand Tasting in the evening was endless - I'll be listing them all in my account "history". And a great Lagavulin lunch, with Truman Cox from A. Smith Bowman at my table making lively conversation.

Then after the Grand Tasting was the after-party at St. Andrew's Pub, where I shared great drinks and conversation with Messrs. Lumsden and McCormick, as well as Iain McCallum from Bowmore, and many other great people.

The only downsides were my shitty hotel room, brutal Newark Airport hassles (one hour in customs on the way in, 2 hours in security on the way out, thanks to hurricane chaos) - and I had to leave the Sunday Bonham's auction early to make sure I caught my flight before the airport shut down - plus the prices at the auction went quite high, so all I got was an Aultmore 12 (Not to mention the resultant Sunday-morning hangover). Still, a wonderful weekend - unforgettable.

I was there for the tasting on Saturday and I really liked it. I tasted a lot of higher end whiskies that were absolutely delicious but I was also impressed by some cheap products like Armorik and Bastille (breton and french). I had the chance to meet John Glaser at Park Avenue Liquor in the morning and to taste the New York Blend in private with him and my brother. Very king person.
