Pretty much everyone's because I'm at the bottom of the totem pole.

The number one cabinet I admired was the one owned by the man who gifted me a few bottles, and became my brief mentor on spirits, before his untimely death. A home care coordinator estimated the worth of his collection at 250 000 dollars. Not sure how she came at that. But he had amazing stuff. 8-9 bottles of Black Bowmore 30 YO (second release), many Macallan 25, rare Bushmills, Mortlachs (rare malts), and other stuff too numerous to mention. If I had known then what I know now, I would have paid better attention.
Here on Connosr, I am in awe of the things I see from the collections of @Markjedi1, @sengjc, @Victor, @Paddockjudge, @Talexander, @Astroke, and a few others I probably will remember after I press send.
Off connosr, I would say I suspect I would find a lot to like in @antihero's (ATW website) cabinet, and I think there might be a few I would enjoy in Ralfy's cabinet.

Without question @Victor has the most impressive cabinet for me. Brings tears to my eyes looking at those A. Smith Abraham Bowman Bottles and the Willett FE's, even more so than the BTAC/PVW collection.

I don't think I've actually had a look at any other members cabinets. I enjoy the informal comments, recommendations, friendly banter, and excellent information form this site. However, I don't want to measure myself up against others (I've a fair idea where I'd be placed from general chit chat on the site), and I like that 'we' try to avoid any elitist type attitudes and comments. I know that my personal and financial situation is different from others and I'm learning to be content with what I have. That said, all power to those whose collections are something to revere.

There are many amazing cabinets at Connosr. @luckyshot and @sengjc buy in multiples, they don't fuck around. Excellent choices and a kill shot every time. For that I am in awe.

To be honest, my cabinet on Connosr has not been updated for a couple of years and has changed quite a bit... except for the Auchentoshan collection that you can still find online at markdermul.be/toshanman. That one only grows :-) But having a huge cabinet means little, imho, actually. My bottles rotate quickly as I often share samples with friends and thus get to try many whisky's. I also do three to four public and private tastings a month, in which 6 to 7 bottles per tasting are tried en emptied - hence the quick rotation.

@Nozinan Believe me, your cabinet is pretty incredible!! My problem is I don't have a "cabinet", per se.....it's just stuff everywhere....

@talexander And yet... there is always amazing stuff in your home.
@markjedi1 I don't peek at other people's online cabinets. I base my "awe" on videos, "what did you buy" posts and other online clues.

@Astroke, bravo! That is a great-looking 14 bottle addition to your cabinet, today!

@Victor Let alone the many deleted or archived bottles due to finishing or double entries. Considering I had put Ancnoc 1975 in there 3 times, no wonder it looked impressive :)
Finding a store in Alberta that will ship to Ontario has helped significantly in adding to the SM collection but still cannot find the Bourbon selection I need.
Still those Bowman Bottles you have are amazing as well as the PHC/Van Winkles.

@Astroke, Abraham Bowman releases were stocked in my local Montgomery County, Maryland stores in 2011 and 2012, maybe one or two in 2013. After that, we never see them here, and I don't think that I know of a sure or easy way to get any of them now.
It was third quarter 2012 when the price graphs for BTAC/Van Winkle went vertical. That's when available supplies of everything at the high end dried up here in a very big way.

If I had delved into whisky when my patron had introduced me to it I would have a much different collection than I do now. Things available in 2009-2012 were history by the time I became serious about stocking up, around 2013-14.

I should update my online cabinet - maybe I'll make that my little project today.

@Victor - I don't know how I haven't seen this post before now, but I am humbled and honored to be included in your list. Would love to share my humble cabinet with you. You are welcome any time.
As for the cabinets that I drool over; @Victor and @paddockjudge would be at the top of my list. I apologize to anyone that I may have left out, but those were the first two that came to my mind.
Thanks again @Victor for including me!

@bwmccoy, you are welcome! I had to include you, first on the list.

@Victor - That means a lot to me, especially coming from you. Again, I'm very honored and humbled!

I recently moved and had to transport my collection to my new home. It was a quite a shock to see how many bottles I have now. I am building a bar to hold everything and was even more surprised to find that I am already near capacity.
I'd be curious to know how some of the people here store their large 300+ bottle collections.

@newreverie - NIce! I'd be forever panicking that the shelves would fall under the weight . . . they certainly would if I put them up
6 years ago 1Who liked this?
@RianC It was no small concern. Each cabinet box is attached in 4 places to 2 steel support bars, so 12 points of contact. The steel support bars are themselves screwed every 18 inches into the studs behind the wall. Even then I watch the thing for the first few days like a mother cat with kittens. I am also considering a third support bar and having the cabinets attached in 6 places. This week my 30 bottle wine rack arrives and i will start making the frames for the cabinet doors.

@newreverie - ha! That's dedication to the cause right there! Saddo that I am I watched a You Tube vid from the Scotch Test Dummies recently where one of them put up a set of shelving units for their whisky collection. Did a decent job actually and it looked good. I'm jealous of you both though as my collection is in a) a small cupboard under the stairs or b) an old wardrobe in my toddler's room. Won't be long before he can open the doors either . . .
Have you seen the Big Lebowski? This may seem a bit of an odd connection but like him I fantasise about being 'handy' and imagine my ideal whisky room where I have shelves made out of reclaimed Oak beams from old ships sunken back into the wall with a shanty type hanging wood carving denoting each region . . .
Is that going too far?
6 years ago 1Who liked this?
@RianC Too far? Maybe, but i'm not that far off. I only had made stair step shelves in the middle cabinet at the time of the picture, but I have them for all of them now. The display cabinet is divided into 6 focus areas. Scotch at the lower right. Canadian, Upper Right. Tequilla/Mezscal, lower left. Rum, Upper Right. Bourbon, center bottom. Rye and some series collections in the top middle (jim beam sig craft, orphan barrel, and blood oath). The total is around 120 bottles in the display cabinet.
There are separate bunkers for scotch, bourbon, rum, and other whiskey. I probably have 30+ additional bottles of each type.
When finished everything will have maple doors with glass windows and granite counter top. Hopefully it will be complete by the end of summer.

@newreverie - Well good luck with it and do post a pic of the finished result - it looks like it's coming along nicely anyway :)

@newreverie - yes, looking great! Look forward to seeing the end result.

Connosr used to have a 'most bottles owned' listing in its original version. Not now, as far as I know. Which Connosr members' cabinets do you most admire? Which cabinets make you say, "Damn!!! I wish I could get a piece of that!"
For me there are quite a few, but in particular, those of: 1) @bwmccoy, 2) @MaltActivist, 3) @paddockjudge, 4) @Nock, 5) @maltster, 6) @astroke, and, of course, 7) @luckyshot.
Over whose cabinets do you drool?
