I have already tried quite a few Islay whiskies from Wilson & Morgan, but they also have other whiskies, such as a Glenrothes and a Linkwood, which I will try soon. This Highland Heart, from an undisclosed distillery, is 11 years old.
The nose is very sweet and clean. Some wild flowers, citrus (oranges and lime), sultanas and peach. Cavaillon (I mean the melon). All very docile, admittedly, but still inviting. Suffing tobacco. Some honey and vanilla and a light hint of smoke.
It is oily, almost creamy, with mild spices. Allspice, I think they call it. The sherry is very pronounced, almost winey. Bittersweet. Orange peel. Some orchard fruit as well. Cinnamon.
The soft, spicy finish is medium in length.
A typical aperitif whisky for those with a sweet tooth. Some whisper this might be Tamdhu. Very affordable.
