In Winter, when it is cold and wet and grey outside, what are your go to daily drams? Are they different than your Summer drams?

@OCeallaigh Absolutely. In summer , I usually drink softer whisky like Balvenie. But in winter, it is the return of the peated beasts. Why? I don't know. But I didn't open my Laphroaig QC so far, but the autumn is getting chillier these days in Quebec and this bottle is more and more in my mind...

Like JoeVelo once the cool weather sets in I gravitate toward the peats, in fact I just ordered an Ardbeg 10 and have been dipping into my Laphroaig. I still will drink less peaty scotches and whiskeys but the peatier ones seem to take the chill off a bit better.

Oh, and let's not forget Connemara single malt, it's an Irish but nicely peated.

Around the holidays I make a mean hot toddy. You can also find hot buttered rum in my house. These go straight to your head, you feel all warm then sleep like dead pig in mud. Excellent.

Ardbeg Uigeadail. Other Ardbegs come and go, but one remains. I also like to keep some Glenfarclas on hand.

This will be my first winter of whisky. I suspect that I will be going to my Islays (PC 'An Turas Mor' and Lagavulin 16 at present...hopefully Laphroaig QC will join the group in the nearish future) and my barrel strength bourbons (Four Roses Single Barrel, Parkers Heritage Collection 4th ed, and Bookers). Summer drams definitely focus on the lighter whiskies (Glengoyne 10, Bushmills Black Bush, Auchentoshan 12), Evan Williams Single Barrel (@ 43%) and Koval Lion's Pride Dark Wheat whiskey (a young, 100% wheat whisky).

The Aberlour A'bunadh works a treat on a cold winter's night.

@dbk I bought my A'bunadh some month ago. Never had one, but I am pretty sure that I will like it. I am waiting till wintertime to open it. So many times I read great stuff about it and I always kept my willpower and didn't crack it open! I am a little proud over here, but looking forward very much!

Being my first winter with whisk(e)y reviewing, I plan to acquire a Laphroiag 10 or their QC something smoky. It would be my first Single malt but the thought of a stronger smoky single makes me salivate The bits of smoke in J.W. Black made me want more smoke and earthy flavors.
