@CaptinTom As I live in a state in the US where the Government controls the alcohol, I won't see a price rise until this particular batch runs out. I finished a bottle yesterday and now feel the loss :) Sorry to hear of such a dramatic price rise.

@RobertH Cheers, I’m just hoping that it’s a short term availability problem rather than a permanent rise. It’s a lovely whisky and a 40% rise takes it out of my acceptable budget.

Royal Mile's still got it for c. £67 - whisky retailers can set their own prices based on their view of supply & demand of course, so they might be reacting to international market trend. Or if people have been panic-buying (to wash down their iodine tablets?) then that might affect price too?

@jasonbstanding yes I had seen that. The vintage house in Soho also has it on their website at £45.95 too. The plan is to nip into town asap and picking up a couple.

I was just wondering if any members out there had any information regarding the sudden rise in price of the Yamasaki whisky’s. The 10 year and the 12 year old have both gone up slightly but the 18 year old has risen from around the £60 mark to £105 in a mater of days. My first thought was that it would have been somehow connected with the many problems in Japan at present, however, if that’s the case I would’ve thought that Miyagikyo being much closer to the affected areas would have also seen a price hike too. I contacted both Master of malt and TWE but haven’t learnt anything other than a conformation of the price.
