Age stated Japanese whiskies are becoming hard to find due to demand, and the distilleries seem to be following the NAS trend. There's no real reason not to state the younger age but they think it's better just to say nothing.
I know there are some on this site who buy whisky to invest (and it takes me so long to drink mine that some of my bottles have gone up in value) but I think most of the discussions are around other aspects of whisky.
I would suggest to you, that if you can afford the bottles in the store, and if you like the contents, and if you'd miss those expressions once they are gone, I would buy some. As many as you feel you need to last you until the whisky bubble bursts, sales go down, and old stocks re-accumulate. Whether you can ultimately resell them is not something I can tell you.

ive heard that the 12 (and maybe the 18) is being discontinued. is there any word yet on what itll be replaced with? i read an article about how many distilleries are changing to NAS bottlings in part due to shortages. it didnt mention if thats what yamazaki is doing tho. any word if theyre switching to NAS or just waiting til more matures?
also, when i saw this i ran out to a local place that i was pretty sure still had it and picked up two bottles for myself. they were still only 90 each. should i snap up the rest too? not sure where id resell em, though, since ebay stopped allowing it. worthy investment? theyve got some 18 year, too, tho im not sure the price. last one i bought there i think was 160.
