I'm relatively new to the whisky(ey) world. Years ago the first Single Malt I was invited to taste was Lagavulin. It took many years to really get on board, but now that I have, I love trying and discovering new drams. My palate may not be easily able to distinguish some of the richer subtleties, but it hasn't stopped me from wanting to try as many as I can when I can. Luckily Washington State has a growing number of smaller independent distillers, which lets me savor more local flavors. Plus the U.S. in general has experienced a renaissance in whiskey, which makes it exciting times indeed!
