A real life whisky cabinet

I keep my whisky in a kitchen cupboard at the moment but I think its time to get a proper cabinet. Those globes are fun in a kitsch way (mappamundi.co.uk/images/Art88 copy.jpg/) but not very scalable!

Where do you keep yours?

You need a large wood-panelled room and a grand piano to go with that ;)

Personally, mine are split between under a kitchen chair and next to the sofa in the lounge. Only the Young Uigeadail (what's left of it) sits on the highest shelf...

I have my daily drams in a cabinet next to my desk in the living room, but the special bottles are on display in my study. My my wife and I are currently renovating and she recently came up with the idea to have a large floor to ceiling cabinet in the living room with glass doors and lights to display the bottles. It took me about 0,2 nanoseconds to agree.

@scribe What is the Young Uigeadail like?

@LeFrog Kind of like a festival in a bottle. I've got about a dram left - I haven't done tasting notes for it yet, but at the same time I can't bring myself to finish it... In fact, I don't think I've opened it in about 2 years...

For now, its the little cabinet above the fridge where all of our liquor is stored. In the hopeful anticipation (much like a hungry kid at a grocery store, my eyes are currently bigger than my wallet) of growing my collection in 2011, I am looking to move stuff to another kitchen cabinet that has triangular shaped shelving.

This shelving creates a lot of dead space behind our dinner plates where a modest whisky collection can be kept.

All of mine are currently behind the door to my bedroom beside a bookshelf. I just moved and I haven't found an appropriate place to put them yet, but where they are now most definitely does not do them justice. I've been trying to find a little wooden cabinet or even bookshelf with doors that close for my whisky cabinet but no such luck.

I keep the bulk of mine on a bookshelf in my room, the ones I don't have room to display are kept in an unused cabinet underneath my entertainment center.

We are low budget, and in a small house. My drinks cabinet is a cardboard box in the closet. And people say Australians have no class...

A year or so ago, I commandeered my wife's china cabinet and transformed it into our "liquor cabinet"; it looks nice lit up at night, very inviting...

Since my collection is starting to dominate both the pantry shelf where I keep the rest of my liquor, and the counter space in my kitchen, the wife readily agreed to a piece of furniture that would do it justice...

Ordered this piece from Ethan Allen last month: ethanallen.com/product/…#

Hard to believe that I'm now the kind of guy that has to buy furniture to display his trophies... Should arrive in May. Can't wait...

@AlanR I checked your cabinet out and boy what a cabinet that is. It looks great.

@michaelschout Thank you, Sir. If all goes according to plan, I'm going to move into a new house later this year. I have grand plans to pair that with a couple of wing back chairs, in a library-esque room. If I can figure out a good way to ventilate the room, there will be a humidor as well. All my vices together in one place.
