I bought a Laphroaig 18yr last night for $78. I thought that was pretty good.

Purchased 3 Macallan CS $69.49 (tax not included). Was surprised to find 3 at a small a small store. I left one behind. Wishing I hadn't.

@maltygirl, Great Deal !! Noble gesture, leaving one behind. Perhaps you will be able to rescue the last remaining bottle on a return trip.

@paddockjudge Thanks. I thought another whisky lover would appreciate finding the lone bottle. I'll give it a few days and if it's still there, it's mine.

It could easily go to someone who sees the name, good price, and figures it's worth buying, and then mixes it with coke...

rescue it...please!

If I can't have it, at least let me have the peace of mind to know it will be appreciated as it should be.

@Nozinan I didn't know you liked Mac CS since you're such a A'bunadh man. Yes, I plan on rescuing the last one tomorrow after work. Store is closed today. I didn't know how good Mac CS was until I opened my one and only bottle (the 59% abv) a week ago. The 3 I purchased are 60.1%. But the truth, although I really enjoy A'bunadh, Mac CS and Glendronach 15 (which I have all 3). I rank them as such: Glendronach 15, Mac CS, A'bunadh. Atleast at this point in time I do. Cheers!

I like Sherry-matured whiskies in general. Even the Glenfarclas 105, but with lots of water. Which I like best probably depends what I'm in the mood for.

I would probably rank Bladnoch as my favourite age-stated Sherry monster (at or near CS at 55%). The others tend to be NAS and I prefer the A'Bunadh in general, but there are some aspects of the Macallan I really enjoy....the richer prune and fig notes for instance. the 105 comes third and I have only tried the Glendronach CS batch 2 once, so it would be unfair to rate it.

Walked into my local liquor store that is now under new management. He was getting rid of some old stock. He had an Aberfeldy12 year priced at 15.00. It is now in my malt cabinet.

I just picked up a bottle of Old Pulteney 21yo for $69.99 plus tax. It was the last bottle on the shelf. It makes you scratch you head when the 12yo is at $49.99 right next to it.

@Nock, Ridiculous !! OP21 is $230 in Ontario, but never available. OP12 is $78. The OP40 is a paltry $3,536.

@HP12 one that definetely belongs to my steal of a deal list is Scapa 16. Available in Germany for some € 50,--. Rumours are that it will be replaced again by a 14 Year old.

@Nozinan To which Bladnoch release are you referring. I never had a Bladnoch and when you say it is your favorite Sherry monster, you get my attention...

@Robert99

I refer to the Bladnoch expressions released between about 2009 and 2014 by the owner Raymond Armstrong. I happened to have a cousin going through UK when the 10 YO was first available online. Sherry matured and bottled at 55%. I got a few of those, a CS version of the 10m and when the 11 and 12 YO were available I managed to get them, either through a person in the UK or shipped to a friend in Florida.

Sadly the distillery closed suddenly in March 2014. I panicked and bought 3 more of the 11 and 3 more 12, though I admit I have not tasted the 12 yet, I was going to open it with my Florida friend yesterday but he cancelled on me. He still has 4 Bladnoch of mine in Florida.

This is a Sherry dram unlike no other I have tried. I guarantee you will enjoy it. It is so good it would be almost illegal for me to keep my stash for myself (even though it needs to last a lifetime now), skin just let me know when you'll be in Toronto and I'd be happy to pour you a dram.

@Nozinan Thank you for your kind offer and your quick answer. I hope I will have the opportunity to go to Toronto soon and maybe I will have the opportunity to offer you a sample out of my reserve. But don't fear too much for your inventory as I am not a big drinker and, like you, more of a sipper.

And don't worry about the typos as I am probably the worst typist on Connosr and my English is far from being great.

Not sure if it's a 'steal' (well it could've been), but a good deal IMHO...

Picked up a bottle of the Balvenie 15 yr Sherry Cask for $84.99...This was recently added to the shelves not more than several days ago, and the old '15 yr Single Barrel' sticker was still in place.

I recall seeing this single malt run for $100 in some stores - so $85 I felt would be a good deal (and if it rang up at the cash register for a higher price - I would've pointed out that the shelf price listing clearly indicates $84.99).

The gal this morning at the register is a part time employee at the store, and knows little to nothing about the stores vast inventory...Long story short - the new Sherry Cask Balvenie didn't ring up - as in no pricing had been entered into the stores system...She looks at me, and asks 'do you know what the price is on this?'.....Now - for a split second I entertained the thought of giving a 'bogus' price (like $49.99), but since I consider myself to be a man of integrity, and honesty - I informed her that the price listed on the shelf was in fact $84.99...Without batting an eyelash she rang it up for that amount...Still a good deal nonetheless.

Picked up bottle of Aberlour A'bunadh batch 49 for $59.99. I had to ask the salesman if it was the right price since it was $20.00 cheaper than anywhere else. He said the store had just been bought out and the new owner lowered most of the prices. They also had Glenlivet 18 for $68.00 and Talker for $48.00. Almost bought a lot more but didn't.

wow, AA49 for $35 less than here.

Does old Grandad 114 for $19.98 plus shipping (worked out to $6 a bottle) count as a steal, or just a deal?

My recent purchase of Aberlour A'bunadh batch 49 at $64.99 not nearly as good a deal as smokinjoe123 but still enticing enough for me to buy the last three bottles on the shelf.

Couldn't believe the price either. 20 bucks cheaper than everywhere else. Cork n Bottle was bought out by a discount liquor chain and dropped all of their scotch prices. They had four more bottles of 49 left and if its a good batch I will have to pick up another one this weekend.
