It's a limited re-release, for the 10th anniversary of the expression. Notice it's in screw-cap form. I don't know if the quality is the same as the old expression. The old one had a 15 year age statement. Does this one?

I'm not too excited. It was OK when I tried it but I didn't run out to buy an extra bottle (I have one put away).

@Nozinan Green label has been re-released. I've been seeing in all over in the 45-60 range. The new bottles do not come in a box. I do not know if they are using the same recipe as the old green labels.

2 bottles of Balcones True Blue 100 for $44 each. They had them marked as the same price as Baby Blue. This was the first time I have seen these on a shelf after over a year of searching. Not certain if they even make it anymore.

And the aforementioned (in another thread) McCallen Cask Strength for $77

Just to put it out there, someone probably has already (but just in case)... That same Costco (Marina del Rey Venice) also had (has) Lagavulin 16 yr for $55. I already got one of those. It seems like they often carry this there, along with Oban 14 yr.

I found a rare bottle today at a small liquor shop in Boynton Beach, FL. - an original Compass Box - The Spice Tree. Many of you may know that the Scotch Whisky Assoc ruled that Compass Box had to cease its original production of The Spice Tree (a blended malt) because of its controversial addition of charred staves during the maturation process. Compass Box modified its production process to make a 2nd edition of The Spice Tree which is currently available and excellent BTW. There was only one bottle of the original on a shelf, priced at $69.99 and I copped it, even though I reluctantly admit, that this is significantly more than what I usually spend even for a single (or blended) malt. Just could not resist. It will sit on a shelf for quite a while before I open it, if ever I do.

@Newkophile, I'll bet that your bottle of the original The Spice Tree would fetch 5 to 10 times what you paid for it at auction. I'll also bet that that mulitiplier will increase greatly over the next few years. The first release of The Spice Tree is a very collectible piece of weird and freaky whisky history. Probably it will be some renegade entrepreneurial hustler who will pay the 2k for it 5 years from now.

@Victor But does it taste significantly different from following batches?

@Nozinan, for a $ 2,000 collectible I don't care how if it tastes as good as the later batches. Mr. Murray actually says he prefers the later batches. People greatly liked the original batch too, by all reports.

Well, that's my point. Sure, the original spice tree used inner staves, but if they were able to make the later batches taste similar and of the same quality, I would keep the original as an investment and drink the later batches. But, if the original was different, and considered better, and getting it at the non-inflated price, I would probably save it for drinking, not selling.

Talisker Distiler Edition 2001 2012 Bottling. My liquor store buddy gave me a great deal $66.

This is probably one of the best, most have it ALL scotches that I have ever had. Talisker DE 2001 2012.

The best scotch I have Ever had comes from India, "Amrit Intermediate Sherry", holy cow is it great!

Not sure how much of a steal this is, but in comparison to normal LCBO prices...

I got a tip from a fellow Connosr last week that the KGBO had slashed prices on 2 of their Amrut selections, the Single Cask Bourbon and Sherry bottlings. If I recall correctly, they were both originally priced at about $140.

They were suddenly on sale for $75 and $65 respectively. I literally sprang from my chair and raced (which in this context hurriedly drove at the speed limit and crawled in traffic) to a store that showed both in stock and managed to get the last two of each.

Wanting something with which to celebrate, I made it to another store that listed 9 of the bourbon cask for sale and was able to get another for myself to open, one for my brother in law and one for another Connosr friend.

Not sure how much these cost in other jurisdictions, but here at home I would call it a great catch, if not a steal.

Thanks @CY!

I might have the deal of the year. If my order actually arrives here in the US and I'm not stuck wtih crazy duty or anything, I'll reply here to let you all know it's legit. For now, I'll just tease that there's a new online shop operating out of Denmark that is SHIPPING FOR FREE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD (except Canada--ha!) . And what's more, THEIR PRICES RULE. Their selection is very uneven but very interesting with plenty of IBs.

The shipping thing is a promo as this website gets off the ground. It goes through July 31, so I should have time to get my order and confirm it's legit for all you fine folks in time for you to place your orders if you want.

Here's what I have coming (I hope!):

•Ledaig 6 YO IB 46% for $27

•Bunnahabhain peated 6YO IB 46% for $38

•"Ileach" mystery Islay single malt NAS, cask strength for $38

•"Peat's Beast" mystery malt NAS, cask strength for $40

•Talisker 57 North NAS for $58. This is the one I'm most excited about. I ordered two!

Their prices really are crazy. Talisker 10 for $30, Lagavulin 16 for $49, Mortlach 7 YO IB for $33, Laphroaig QC for $36, Glenfarclas 105 for $36 (yes!—I'd've ordered this guy but he was out of stock), Arran Amarone for $38, Clynelish 14 for $38, Ardbeg 10 for $39, Glenlivet Nadurra 16 for $50, A'bunadh fo $56. I could go on.

And they do samples, again with free worldwide shipping.

Stay tuned. I'll reveal all when I'm sure about this joint. Or if you're resourceful I'm sure you can dig it up on your own in my despite.

IB Octomores? Sounds suspicious. Octomore is a Bruichladdich expression. It's unlikely they would allow an IB with the same name

Your mystery site has proven difficult to discover. A couple hours and many dozen online Danish whisky shops later, I was not successful in solving the mystery. Perhaps you could give us a hint? lol I've been trying to get my hands on a bottle of Talisker 57 for quite a while myself.

@Ol_Jas
Ol_Jas replied

@broadwayblue , it's a brand new site trying to do shipping miracles that seem to be unheard of, so I didn't want to lead anyone astray if it can't deliver (literally—ha!) what it promises.

But the DHL tracker says my shipment is at the German export center, so maybe it's a safe bet. In any case, I don't want you to burn up time trying to solve my silly mystery, so here's the reveal:

finedrams.com

And @Jonathan, they do claim they'll ship anywhere. ANYWHERE. With a hush hush wink wink sorta style, apparently. Good luck!
