You're awfully young to be so forgetful. :-)
Don't take offense; it's a joke!
Since my last post on that thread I've had a chance to try Batch 28. Terribly HOT, and as you suggested with your Batch 36 experience, it needed much time in the glass to settle down and become enjoyable.
I read (but can't remember where, and, yes, I am old enough to be that forgetful) that Batch 47 had been released. No telling when it'll arrive in N. American markets.

@two-bit-cowboy
I can't, unlike my mayor, blame it on a drunken stupor. Somehow I thought that discussion was such a long time ago.... And yet the last few posts were quite recent.
So you liked it, but someone else did not. What to do? Maybe one of the LCBOs will have it open for tasting. Try before you buy.... Because them it doesn't matter what others think.
But it would be nice to hear from anyone else who has an opinion.
Sorry to hear about the 28. Until now all I've heard was that it's the holy grail of A'Bunadhs. I have a bottle I found by accident on a trip to Halifax, before I even knew it was a classic. Now, all my preconceptions are shattered!

@Nozinan ... "a man's trash is another's treasure"
I've no idea who coined that thought, but it certainly applies to whisky.

Many of you who are frequent visitors to this site will know I'm a great fan of Aberlour A'Bunadh. It was one of the first single malts I tried back in 2011 when I seriously began my malt journey, and it remains one of my favourite expressions. I rarely host a tasting without including in the line-up. In fact,a quick review of the tasting notes reveals it features in 8 out of 10 meetings over three years, and in meeting 9 there were 2 batches tastes and a thIrd was included in my personal vatting. In other words, I like this stuff.
At the beginning of the month we tried the 36 for the first time. I found there was something "off" in the nose and palate, which did improve with time in the glass. Still not my favourite batch.
Last year I opened batch 44 for my 44th birthday, and I plan to open 45 on my 45th. So here's the thing. I don't think I can "buy ahead" for all future birthdays because I won't have anywhere to put them all, but I figured I would buy ahead for some of the important milestones, like 50, 55 and some others, and definitely if I heard of a good batch.
I've heard the 45 was really good, but I've only seen one review of the 46 here and it was not too flattering.
The 46 is currently the one at the LCBO (I know they have no others because I followed the inventory to zero last fall), and I notice that the 47 was recently released.
So my question is - have any of you tried the 46 (or 47), and what do you think of it?
