This limited edition is made from 3 casks of American oak and Spanish sherry casks and bottled at cask strength. The casks yielded only 1.495 bottles. The casks were put to sleep while I was merely a 5 year old kid – many of you had not even seen the light of day yet. Let us give this one a go, eh?
Wow, what an elegant nose! Subtle on all kinds of honey, baked apples, some sultanas and candied lemon rind, but also a lot of pineapples and wild flowers. A touch of chicory.
On the palate, the wood is obvious. Some ginger and peper, some cedar wood. Then immeditately sweet apple pie, Seville oranges, cinnamon and a drop of quinine. Walnuts. Wonderfully mouth coating and even a bit smoky (woodsmoke, not peat).
The medium long finish on bitter oranges and a hint of dark chocolate ends in a surprisingly salty touch at the death.
A grand AnCnoc that makes me long for a second glass. Enjoy-whisky. Around 300 EUR. Not too bad for a whisky of over three decades.

Oddly enough I purchased this earlier today, now doubly looking forward to enjoying a dram!
