Time flies, and it seems only yesterday we reviewed the first Arkle edition. Here’s a 2nd one. You get the deal, it’s another lovely sherry focused (50%) dram from the knock.

Limited Edition No. 2 is a classic expression of single malt whisky from Knockdhu Distillery with a twist. The whisky was matured in Spanish oak ex-sherry butts (50%) and American oak ex-bourbon barrels, both first fill. The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, unchill-filtered and presented at its natural color.

Nose: perfumed honey. Apricot. Dried ones. Sultana. Wood. Cinnamon and spice. Sweeter than the normal ancnocs but not over. Not big sherry.

Palate : very nice. Sweet. Lots of honey liquor sort of with dipped sultanas. Dark chocolate Bon bons. Leather. Fig jam.

Finish : wood varnish. Chocolate filled with liquor. Demerara sugar.

Bottom line:

Lovely. Sweet. Chocolate-y. Winter after desert dram. Would be great with dark chocolate 70%, methinks. A lovely twist on the regular AnCnocs , good stuff, and lovely lovely packaging.
