This is again a very limited edition consisting of 6000 bottles made from vatting 10 ex-Olorosso Sherry Casks in which the spirit was aged for 12 years (after being distilled in 1997). Again, we’re talking about No chill filtration and natural coloring.I will be interesting to see how this varies from the Peacock with the ex-Olorosso only casks. Nose : Dark chocolate, dry fruit cherries dipped in liquor and some toffee. A very nice mix. Deeper than the summery lighter Peacock.

Palate : Sherry influence is very noticeable. We get the dried fruit salad. Spice ( cinnamon and nutmeg) and that Oloroso sweet fruity spicy tang. Good integration, without ‘over-sherrying’ (is there such a verb??) the Arran malt profile.

Finish : long dry spicy and sweet, Dying on dried fruits oak and chocolate.

Sounds like a lovely dessert dram to accompany a rich dessert.

Well it is not only one to drink with a dessert, mostly I drink this one during a football match on Sunday afternoon. It gets a 77.5 score in the whisky bible 2011, but I more agree on this 85 score.

Had it tasted by non whisky drinkers (dad and brothers) at last Christmas and they good enjoy it.

After reading your review I feel good about buying this one. It was on a reduced price as offer of the month in February in one of my local liquor shops. I got to taste it in the shop so I haven't opened my own bottle yet. That will probably be some time when my family is visiting.
