I will end this session of Balmenach with a 28 Year Old bottled by A.D. Rattray in 2012. I am comparing it to a sister cask released by Bladnoch Forum. Both casks were single bourbon hogsheads of Balmenach 1983.

Frangipane pie on the nose, which also reveals white and yellow fruit. Cardemom and cinnamon from the spice rack. Sweet and malty. Very warm nose, if you know what I mean. I love it!

The arrival is pretty soft, despite the high ABV. Spicy and sweet, that is the least that you can say of this one. Some mint as well, making it very similar to the Bladnoch Forum bottling. But this one has something extra: sugared orange peel. You can truly taste the malt in this one.

The finish is very long and very spicy.

They are twins, so much alike indeed. And hence the same score. Thanks, Michiel & Mireille!
