Hello everybody! i've just read Micheal Heads' interview on www.allthingswhisky.com his opinion the ten years old is the best expression of the range...obviously I like that stuff, but was wondering what is the best expression according to your personal tastes! ok I admit, I'm going to buy another bottles and will use your advice once in the shop! :)

My favourite (and easily obtainable) expressions are Corryvreckan, Uigeadail and Rollercoaster. I have samples of (but not yet tried) Renaissance, Supernova, 1977 and Airgh Nam Beist. I hear good things of those as well.

Like @markjedi1, I have several Ardbeg expressions in my cabinet that I have yet to try. Nevertheless, I really adore the Airigh Nam Beist. It is now a discontinued (and sometimes steeply discounted) product, so one should snap up a bottle where one could.

Depends, as with all things whisky, on your tastes! I go for the monstrous over the delicate, and Ardbeg is absolutely my favorite whisky distiller. So I am all in for Uigeadail, Supernova (2009) and Rollercoaster. I like Corryvreckan a bit less. I've not yet tried the 2010 Supernova so I have no opinion on it yet.

All that said, the 10-year-old is absolutely delightful and a great value. Of my 60-odd bottles of Scotch, I reach for it probably more often than any other.

Cheers,

Rus

@dbk I would kill to get my hands on more Airigh Nam Beist.

Sadly, long gone around these parts.

I hear you, @antihero! I was lucky enough to find a bottle in Portland, Oregon, but I don't know when I'll ever see another.

@antihero If you fly through Seoul airport they still have quite a stash of the Airigh Nam Beist for sale, but at over $150 (maybe that's why they still have some left ;-)

Ardbeg Uigeadail is still my favourite of the current expressions, it ticks all the boxes for me.

Uigeadail is very good, Supernova 2010 is excellent ! I have just opened my newly bough Airigh Nam Beist (L8) this weekend and it is very good also. I think I still prefer Uigeadail or Supernova because the peat is less present in the beast ! However, they did a fantastic job with this 1990 vintage. It is like having a peat cake... very good.. For you out there in NY, the Beast is easy to find. I bought mine two weeks ago at 62$... However, the TEN is probably the best daily dram in the market right now. Corryvrecken is very good also Rollercoaster is not my favorite.

So for your shopping, if you find a Beast, buy it because it will be rarer as time goes. Otherwise, I would suggest Supernova if it is within your budget because it is a limited edition and it is the best Ardberg I ever tasted.

Ardbeg is my favorite distillery and my top three. Number 1 supernova 2009!! Amazing intense dram. 2. Uigeadail the sherry on it is just right;). 3. Ten year for overall quality and price it's unstoppable;) I just bought the beast as well very cheap and like it but miss the smack in the face peat. Cheers
