Product placement is supposedly a powerful advertising tool. Of course you could always look at it the other way... by 2019 (dont you love it when sci-fi dates stop being futuristic?) Johnnie Walker Blue will have slipped so far that it is the daily drink of an out of work cop!

I thought the bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label in the scene where Decker has a drink with his old police captain, was a cool futuristic design. Now I think it looks more like the new Jack Daniel's bottle!

Here's a brilliant new blog that features Scotch product placement in movies and TV.
It's where I found the JW Black Label bottle seen in Blade Runner.

ah ha, I didn't pick up on that in that particular scene... I'm convinced they used Blue Label in the scene I was referring to when Decker was alone in his apartment forensically reviewing video and images frame by frame, check it out.... Whisky Anorak time!

I watched Blade Runner at the weekend for the first time in about 10 years.. awesome creative film set..... in one of the scenes Harrison Ford is inspecting a video of one of the replicants he is pursuing while sipping a silky-smooth scotch in a space-age glass .... whilst Harrison is inspecting frame by frame of the video... I noticed a Johnnie Walker Blue Label bottle is placed several times at critical points whilst Harrison is intensely scrutinizing the frames drawing the viewer into the scene........ how powerful is subliminal marketing?
