The fourth and final single cask that we selected for the Canvas Series takes us back to Islay. We also put Monique back to work who delivered a beautiful closing piece with this paining for our label. This Bunnahabhain matured for no less than 12 years on a sherry butt before we bottled it at cask strength. Pour it and then give it five minutes to catch its breath. You will not be sorry.

Wonderful nose on lots of earthy notes with toffee, rotting plants (not an off-note!), leather, salt, something dusty as if from antique furniture, dragon and Maggimix spices. It becomes, as you may have noticed yourself, more sweet as you allow it to breathe for a few moments. Then some apple sauce appears, along with rum-raisins and woodsmoke. Delicious.

On the palate I get plum marmalade, salted caramel, hazelnuts, garden herbs, sugared orange peel, salt & pepper, candied sugar and lots of woodsmoke. The alcohol is perfectly integrated, thank you very much.

Oh, my, that Finish (with capital F)! Truly outstanding. Long, drying on leather with a touch of espresso. Bitter chocolate at the death.

Yes, please, put this under the Christmas tree. What a grand Bunna, even if we say so ourselves.
