Bunna 2009 on sherry? I have good memories of that. There’s good reason for having bottled such a cask with Mark & Manny's malts. But our friends from Klubb23 also could get their hands on such a cask and bottled it for the shop Buds & Barrels, run by our good friend Tom Haseldonckx. It's the first of a series of four single casks in the series 'L'Histoire d'Alixe', so we have something to look forward to. Nice label, by the way, by the hand of Annie Mation (see what she did there?).

The nose is very creamy on butterscotch, marzipan and hazelnuts. Tarragon, Maggimix herbs (oxo?) and something that reminds me of freshly polished parquet. Surprising touch of old armagnac, which gives it a lot of depth. Terrific.

Nice and creamy on the palate, too. Garden herbs, salted caramel, crème brûlée and orange jam. Nutella! A bit zesty, a bit spicy and absolutely delicious. Beautiful touch of woodsmoke, too. Excellent strength, almost perfect balance.

The slightly drying, soft smoky and salty finish – with a delicious touch of apple pie on the deathbed – completes the picture.

This is a very different critter than the one Manny and I bottled, but at least as good! Well, those who missed the release of MMM would do well to get it. Just as tasty, almost the same price and simply a delicious Bunna!
