I've never heard of Burns Night, but I found some very interesting information on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burns_supper
Very interesting! I wish I could attend a formal Burns Night supper.

Thought this post would get a bit more attention. I 'celebrated' Burns Night with a dram of Chapter 6 English Whisky Company - wonder if Robert would have approved?!

@dougwatts Thought about going to the butchers to buy a haggis but then realised it was the Carling Cup semi-final so had a simple TV dinner. Once Arsenal had won I did a joint Burns/Wembley celebration with a glass of Uigeadail!

@Piero Nice choice with the Uigeadail. Being a football fan from the red half of Manchester I couldn't join you in celebrating Arsenal's success, but United's comeback against Blackpool was toasted in a similar fashion. And isn't it a fine thing that our mutual love of the water of life can override any tribal football allegiances? Whisky - the great unifier!

@dougwatts when you were two down and we were winning it was looking like a very good night for us!

No special dinner but made myself a few Bobby Burns cocktails in his honor. I tried using Fomous Grouse, "Hunting Lodge 12", and Glenfiddich 12 and found the drink works better starting with a scotch without a lot of sherry notes.

Burns Night is coming up on the 25th of January. A great opportunity to get together with friends and share a few drams - perhaps even convert a whisky noobie!
Are you doing anything special?
