Caol Ila whiskeys are always in top my list of favorites. So, in September I was tasting Cadenhead's Caol Ila 13 years old, bottled in 1995. It is cask strength and single cask. The trademark Islay smokiness is right away there with some salty sea on your nose. The very first taste of salty bacon is concentrated to tip of your tongue real nicely. From there it spreads to whole mouth, finishing with some round malt flavors.
