Canadian Tariffs on US Whiskies

I just saw an interesting article that looks at the impact of new Canadian import duties on US whiskies, now that new shipments have come in (and some places they have not) since July 1 when the duties came into effect.

Will this win the was with Trump? No. And it likely won't affect the industry down south because we are not a large market. But it may affect purchasing choices in Canada. I would be interested in knowing if anyone on Connosr has been affected by the new taxes, and how.

The article is behind a paywall, but so far the price of Wild Turkey 101 is unaffected, so I’ll be picking one up soon. We have friends coming to visit and they want me to make them some Old Fashioneds. I find WT 101 to be a great whisky in an OF.

It's hard to determine if price changes at the LCBO are a result of the tariffs. The LCBO changes their prices pretty much everyday. For example, at my outlet a 16 Lagavulin was $124.00. Three days later it was $130.00. Too bad I'm not a beer drinker! I could take advantage of a buck a beer. Except, that appears to be a fallacy.
