The German bottler Whisky-Fässle released this in collaboration with the Dutch Whiskybase. It is a Caperdonich from the legendary year 1972, so I expect a fantastic whisky. Buckle up!

Bam, right of the bat! Fruit bomb! Loads of sweet fruit, both from the orchard and the tropics, drenched in light honey. It has a wonderful mineral quality as well. And that fantastic trace of smoke that you often find in Capers from 1972. Wonderful and grand, without being loud. A rather subtle beauty, like the quiet girl in the back row in class that you inexplicably were always in love with. Too much information?

The attack is rather soft, with loads of fruit again, but also walnuts and green tea. A soft, but wonderful bitterness. Citrus and banana emerge. Yes, lime and lemon become louder all the time. The smoke is present on the palate as well. Subtle, but great.

The long finish on spices and citrus turns this into a fantastic feast.

Wow! There are fruity Capers that are more in your face, but this subtle beauty really hits me where it counts. Thanks, Christof!
