Distribution of ratings for this:
- Brand: Century Distillers
- ABV: 45%
Nose: creamy, oak-heavy with noticeable vanilla and caramel. Not overly complex but very rich with some nice depth.
Taste: thick and big-bodied, lots of sweetness up front before it moves on to big baking spices. The rich, elegant taste of a well-aged whisky.
Finish: fades on a tangy, slightly sour oak taste. Long and lingering.
Balance: this is almost exactly what I look for in a very old Canadian whisky. Thick texture, rich flavour. Bottling at 90 proof seems to have kicked the intensity up a notch over similar bottlings like Century Reserve 21. My only complaint is that the syrupy oak flavour is almost cloying at times; you need to be in the mood for this stuff. Also, being an all-corn whisky, it seems to lose some of the subtle complexity compared to other Canadian blends.
