In 1988 Chivas allowed fans to enroll for a special release of Chivas Regal 12 Year Old that would be launched for the Millennium. Subscribe in 1988, get your bottle in 2000. You have to be patient, eh? My buddy Marc apparently is such a patient man.

Very sweet, caramelized nose on peach, honey, toffee apples and marzipan. Some putty, which is somewhat off putting (see what I did there?). Other than that, this nose – for an ordinary blend, if I may say so – is not too bad and better than that of the regular Chivas 12 to my recollection.

Surprisingly creamy, but oh so sweet. Honey, caramel… unfortunately nothing remotely fruity. It is all about sugars. A soft spiciness shines through.

The finish is rather short and offers nothing new.

I’ve never been a big fan of Chivas Regal 12 and this special (is it?) Millennium release has done nothing to change that.
