Another young Craigellachie bottled by A.D. Rattray. This one matured on a bourbon cask. Again at cask strength, of course. So far young Craigellachie has been a let-down for me. I hope this one does better.

Aha! Good nose! Almonds, coconut, a floral and mineral side. Touch of woodsmoke. This is a very pleasant surprise. Honey, mirabelles, grapes and even a hint of mango. Yes, this is good!

Mouthcoating but piquant. White pepper, liquorice and camphor. Immediately honeysweet from the fruit and a truckload of honey. Baked apples. Somewhat bittersweet as if from grapefruit. Coconut becomes quite loud.

The long finish is dominated by pepper and coconut.

Lovely surprise that restored the honor of Craigellachie in my book.
