Nose: much more forward than the Gibson's I had before this. Almost something salty about it...the rye stands out with a sort of herbal character, like a less sweet Crown Royal. Deeper in the glass there is a hard, dusty element that you sometimes get in Canadian rye. Interesting

Taste: light-bodied but a good mouthful of flavour. Spices, dried leaves, caramel candy, brown sugar. A classic Canadian profile delivered with surprising flair.

Finish: light, with some ginger.

Balance: I always liked this whisky and when I sat down to dissect it I found I really liked it. Brings together many of the pleasant aspects of Canadian whisky without trying to reinvent the style. I would rank this near the top of its class for sure. Great all-purpose whisky.
