Evan Williams Black Label bourbon is the No. 3 largest selling whiskey in the US., behind Jack Daniels No.7 and Jim Beam White Label. Evan Williams is one of the labels of Heaven Hill Distilleries, along with Henry T. McKenna, Elijah Craig, Fighting Cock, Old Fitzgerald, Parker's Heritage, and Heaven Hill. Evan Williams Black Label is 7 years old

Nose: moderate in intensity, sweet, caramel, vanilla, some oak

Taste: This is a rather simple bourbon, sweet, fairly woody, light in body. It is not unpleasant, but rather lacking in complexity. I would never want to dilute this further than it already is

Finish: pretty short in duration, with spice exiting early to leave only a sweet somewhat woody glow

Balance: this is popular with the general public because it is easy, like a wine cooler. It works fine if you are looking for simple, sweet, and easy. The more aged single barrel versions are quite excellent

Would you recommend the 1783 #10, or the 1999 single barrel as the stronger representation of Evan Williams?

@Pudge72, I was a little hard on the scoring for Evan Williams Black Label. If you like or in the mood for light and sweet, it can be very enjoyable. The Evan Williams Single Barrels are generally quite good. I have a bottle of the 2000 bottling which is wonderful. I haven't tasted the 1999 but I wouldn't hesitate to buy it, or any, of the Evan Williams Single Barrels. I haven't yet tasted the Evan Williams 1783.

Tried it--the 1783, and thought it was really worth the trouble--and price. Very nice!
