I've been a big fan of Famous Grouse. I've been drinking it for a long time, but honestly I haven't really touched it much since going to single malts. However, it still has a special place in my heart! So, when I found a 5cl sample bottle of the 12yr 100% malt whisky, I couldn't pass it up. Not that I'm expecting much out of it compared to the single malts I drink, but here's hoping!

The 12yr is a 40% ABV bottling.

Nose: Sherry and salt come through up front, with the saltiness showing up predominately. White oak.

Body: Pretty good mouth feel, but a tad watery.

Palate: Very flavorful. Oak, a hint of melon fruit, and some pepper.

Finish: Nice finish! It has a maltiness to it that is well-rounded by the sweet sherry and oak!

This is not bad. The nose is a bit too salty. I wish it had more smoke and a little less salt. It could stand for a little more sherry influence as well. All in all it is not a bad whisky, but I doubt I would spend money on a bottle.
