That's a very nice article linked from your blog, Johannes. That's really good to hear that the expansion of the Finnish whisky industry is continuing.
The two questions many of us outside of Finland are likely to ask are: 1) will we see any of the Finnish whiskies (exported to our countries)? and, 2) will the Finnish whiskies be sold at prices we are willing to pay?
Thanks for the link to your informative article.

@Victor they are already exporting Finnish whisky to the UK in the form of Teerenpeli 10. Unfortunately this is priced at 77 pounds for a 50cl bottle! Hopefully this latest venture will be a little cheaper so we all get the opportunity to try some Finnish products.

Those are good questions @Victor. Valamo is aiming especially for the Russian, Chinese and American markets. Kyro distillery has stated that Asia is important to them.
Biggest problem seems to be the capacity of production. Teerenpeli and Valamo are probably the only ones who can at least try bringing those prices down. I'm afraid that other distilleries have microdistillery productions, which mean high pricing and bad availability. "Bigger taxing for bigger alcohol production" policy in Finland makes things hard for Finnish companies

There's been lots of things going on in Finnish whisky industry. 3 new distilleries in 2014 and 2 more in 2015. I decided to write about them. Offering some basic info about them. Here's part 1, Valamo Monastery Distillery. They will be making peated whisky along with unpeated. What's cool about them, some of the whisky will be matured in Church Wine casks.
